Today it was our year 6's turn to explore the river and woodland near Henley in Arden. We learnt all about different habitats and the animals we might see or here whilst walking about. We learnt that a foxes home is called an earth, a rabbits home is called a burrow and a badgers home is called a sett. We also learnt about erosion, watched the water at different points as the flow changed from ripples to pools and learnt about eddy's where the water circles around. In the woods we had a try weaving willow to form a wall on a shelter, this linked in well with our insistent invaders topic work. Our favourite activity was trying to dam the river flow, we raised the water level by about 10cm. Everyone has had a fantastic time and would like to do more outdoor learning.
