Deaf festival

We were very excited to go to another school with a resource base to meet lots of other deaf children and take part in some activities. We learnt some dance moves with a company of deaf and hearing dancers who also taught us some VV (visual vernacular) poetry. After a picnic lunch we explored their playing fields and woods and settled down by the fire to try some fruit and melted chocolate. We were then treated to a performance of dance exploring the theme of factory working being like cogs in a machine. It was a fantastic day and we were all tired on our way home.

Dol y Moch final morning

This morning was extremely busy. We needed to strip our beds, finish packing, brush our teeth and get our cases onto the luggage van by 7.30 then it was off to breakfast for the last time. We then had a final room inspection before saying goodbye and heading for the coach. We have had a brilliant time and would love to return.

Dol y Moch day 3

Today we got up and were feeling quite tired, we ate a good breakfast and got ready for today’s activity climbing a mountain to enter a slate mine. The walk up was tiring but we were amazed by the view when we got higher up. We ate lunch outside the mine entrance and were excited to go in. Once inside we followed the leader with the map to navigate our way around, we saw how the miners would have worked and lived and are thankful that we don’t have to work in mines. We had a candle lit snack and drink then turned all lights out to experience pure darkness. On the way down the sun was shining and we could see for miles. It was a great day. Back at the centre we had a go at climbing on the climbing wall, ate a roast dinner followed by birthday cake and tried the photo trail. Mrs Townsend brought us popcorn to have as an evening snack with our hot chocolate and marshmallows then it was off to bed ready for a busy morning getting ready to go home.

Dol y Moch day 2

Today we have had a very wet day we had a morning on the top lake at the centre exploring the slimy pond and navigating ways across it then we learnt how to kayak, we tried hard not to fall in. After lunch we headed down to Borth y Gest to try some rock scrambling, we climbed some high rock cliffs and traversed along others. We also found a rock slide to play on. After a dinner of curry and rice followed by cheesecake we were locked in the labyrinth, luckily we all managed to work together to find the escape code. This evening we have had tuck and a hot chocolate and are now ready for bed.
