Rugby League World Cup School Visit

Last year our year 5 class entered a competition showcasing all the interesting things found in Coventry. Their video won and today we welcomed some rugby players to the school to present the children with their prizes. The children involved received a badge, had balls signed by Jodie Cunningham, who plays for St Helens and England. The World Cups were also brought to school, there were 3, one for the men's rugby competition, one for the women's rugby competition and one for the wheelchair rugby competition. We had time to have photos taken with the cups and have our questions answered.

Here is the winning video made by our year 6 children

We were very excited to see the Cups.

Coventry Flame of Friendship Closing Ceremony

Today we took part in the Flame of Friendship Closing Ceremony at Westwood Academy. This has been a very exciting project for all of us, we have enjoyed learning about the Olympics and other countries. We have tried lots of new sports and at the Closing Ceremony we were very lucky to be taught to play Taico drumming. We had 2 hours in the morning to practice before performing in the afternoon for the Lord Mayor, Japanese Ambassador and children from schools across the city.

We also got to try some more sporting activities led by some amazing sports leaders from Westwood Academy. We had a brilliant day.
