Dol y Moch final morning

This morning was extremely busy. We needed to strip our beds, finish packing, brush our teeth and get our cases onto the luggage van by 7.30 then it was off to breakfast for the last time. We then had a final room inspection before saying goodbye and heading for the coach. We have had a brilliant time and would love to return.

Dol y Moch day 3

Today we got up and were feeling quite tired, we ate a good breakfast and got ready for today’s activity climbing a mountain to enter a slate mine. The walk up was tiring but we were amazed by the view when we got higher up. We ate lunch outside the mine entrance and were excited to go in. Once inside we followed the leader with the map to navigate our way around, we saw how the miners would have worked and lived and are thankful that we don’t have to work in mines. We had a candle lit snack and drink then turned all lights out to experience pure darkness. On the way down the sun was shining and we could see for miles. It was a great day. Back at the centre we had a go at climbing on the climbing wall, ate a roast dinner followed by birthday cake and tried the photo trail. Mrs Townsend brought us popcorn to have as an evening snack with our hot chocolate and marshmallows then it was off to bed ready for a busy morning getting ready to go home.

Dol y Moch day 2

Today we have had a very wet day we had a morning on the top lake at the centre exploring the slimy pond and navigating ways across it then we learnt how to kayak, we tried hard not to fall in. After lunch we headed down to Borth y Gest to try some rock scrambling, we climbed some high rock cliffs and traversed along others. We also found a rock slide to play on. After a dinner of curry and rice followed by cheesecake we were locked in the labyrinth, luckily we all managed to work together to find the escape code. This evening we have had tuck and a hot chocolate and are now ready for bed.

Dol y Moch Day 1

Today we had a lovely breakfast before completing our jobs and meeting our instructor Di who is going to be with us all week. We were excited for a day of orienteering and a trip to Criccieth beach to look in the rock pools. We all mastered our map reading skills with a map of the centre and then headed into the woods around Llyn Mair to test our skills. We brought all our teachers back safely. Next we were off to the beach, we explored the rock pools finding many different types of crabs and other small creatures then it was off to the ice cream shop. We had pizza for tea and visited the tuck shop. This evening we completed a night line challenge to see if we could carry a bucket of water around a route in the woods without dropping any whilst trying to remember items attached to the guide rope. We have had a fantastic day and are all excited to see what will be our adventure tomorrow.
